Timothy Thibault, FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge has resigned after being accused of bias in handling the investigation into Hunter Biden’s laptop, according to reports.

Daily US Feed learned on Monday that Timothy Thibault is no longer with the bureau. A source familiar with the matter told FOX news that Thibault retired over the weekend. According to the source, Thibault was escorted out of the building on Friday, which is standard procedure.

Thibault has been in the news lately after he was accused of being “politically biased” and attempting to run interference in the Hunter Biden investigation.

Chuck Grassley, a Senate Judiciary ranking member, named Thibault in a July 18 letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland. Grassley cited whistleblowers who alleged a pattern of political bias from high-ranking officials, including Thibault.

The whistleblowers said that Department of Justice and FBI employees must follow certain strict guidelines to open a probe and that Thibault failed to follow these guidelines, according to Grassley.

Grassley also wrote that Thibault is not the only politically biased FBI agent at the Washington Field Office, adding that “the FBI answers to Congress and the American people.”

In a statement earlier this month, FBI Director Christopher Wray called the whistleblowers’ allegations “deeply troubling.” Wray further said that the whistleblowers would be protected and subsequently removed Thibault from his supervisory role.

Thibault was not, at any level, involved in the FBI raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate earlier this month. He was one of 13 assistant special agents in charge at the Washington field office.

Taking to on his Truth Social media platform, former president Trump reacted to news of Thibault’s resignation, accusing the FBI of running a “corrupt” investigation into him, Newsweek reported.
