A UCLA basketball player was arrested in Arizona on Thursday and is accused of assault after allegedly spitting on a fan, according to authorities.
The player was unknown to the University of Arizona police, who reported the charges. He was taken into custody on Friday shortly after the Bruins lost to the Arizona Wildcats in Tucson, KVOA television reported in Tucson.
However, in a tweet after the incident, Barstool Arizona identified the arrested player as UCLA in front of Mac Etienne.
The alleged incident occurred when Bruins players left the court in a tunnel towards their locker room, while fans gathered in nearby seats as they passed, some shouting at the players. Etienne, who was not playing and was not in uniform, was seen exchanging with the fan as he left the court with the team.
