Deputies apprehended a homeless Florida man last Friday after he was accused of breaking into a Brevard County home and threatening to rape a woman inside, according to an affidavit.

Around 6:30 a.m., deputies arrived at the home on School Street in Cocoa after the 40-year-old homeless man, identified as Christopher Sloan, had reportedly broken a side door and forced his way into the home’s bedrooms, where a woman was lying in bed.

Sloan reportedly removed the blanket the victim used to cover herself as he made a sexual remark to her. The victim told responding officers that she believed Sloan was going to rape her.

With the help of another occupant of the home, the victim defended herself and was able to subdue Sloan physically” and call 911, according to FOX 35 News.

When deputies responded to the home, they found Sloan in a back bedroom. Due to his injuries, he was transported to a nearby hospital for medical clearance.

Sloan was later discharged from the hospital and was subsequently booked into the Brevard County Jail on charges of burglary, assault with intent to commit a felony and criminal mischief, the affidavit stated.
