A Connecticut man who was running from authorities in his state’s authorities was captured on Saturday while celebrating his 31st birthday in Georgia.
The 31-year-old fugitive, Forenza Rakeem Murphy, was taken into custody in McDonough by Henry County Sheriff’s Office’s Special Investigation Unit, the sheriff’s office announced Saturday.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta’s report, investigators received information that Murphy was celebrating his birthday at a relative’s house.
Murphy was apprehended and taken into custody on Saturday afternoon.
According to the sheriff’s office, Murphy left without permission while serving a four-year sentence on a robbery charge at a Connecticut Department of Corrections.
Sheriff Reginald B. Scandrett makes the following statement on Facebook following Murphy’s apprehension:
“If you make your way into Henry County, we’re going to get on your trail and we won’t stop until you’re caught. It was a great collaborative effort with The Connecticut DOC that led to the apprehension of Murphy.”
